Training & Ongoing Support
You don’t need to know a limit switch from a photo eye to open a Vance Gate Repair location. You need the willingness to follow a documented process and the discipline to hand a customer a written price before work begins. We teach the rest. Since 2014, Adrian Vance has built systems around one idea: a gate repair business runs on documentation, not guesswork. Our training program exists to transfer those systems to you, whether you’ve never touched a gate operator or you’ve been turning wrenches for years.
Initial Training
Training starts with the trade itself. Before we talk about marketing or software, we make sure you understand how a gate actually works. We cover swing gates and slide gates, chain-drive and belt-drive operators, safety edges, photo eyes, limit switches, and control boards. We teach you to name the part and explain it in plain language to a homeowner who just wants their gate to open. We cover the nine automation brands we service: LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, and Mighty Mule. You’ll learn what’s common across them and what makes each one different. Then we move to operations. The Haven Standard governs everything: written price before work starts, photographed documentation on every visit, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise on every completed job. You’ll learn our software for scheduling, quoting, photo documentation, and job records. We cover hiring: how to find background-checked, uniformed technicians, how to verify licenses, and how to build a crew that shows up on schedule. Marketing comes last, because a gate company that can’t fix a gate won’t stay in business no matter how good the ads are.
Launch Support

Opening week is not a sink-or-swim moment. We’re on the phone with you before your first job and after it. Our launch team helps you set up local marketing: your service area, your listing profiles, your website structure, and the lead engine that drives calls to your business. We walk you through your first estimates, making sure the written price is clear, the scope is specific, and the customer knows exactly what they’re paying for before the work begins. Clause 1 of the Haven Standard applies from day one: flat price, written scope, written warranty, before anyone starts. If you’re unsure about a diagnostic call, we’ll review it with you. If a customer asks a question you can’t answer, you’re never guessing alone. We coach you through the first jobs until the process feels like habit, not effort. The goal of launch support is simple: you open the doors with the documentation system already running, the lead engine already turning, and the confidence that comes from knowing what a good gate repair looks like.
Before
AfterOngoing Support
Support does not end at launch. Vance Gate Repair franchisees have access to:
- Field coaching: Adrian and the training team ride along on real jobs, review your documentation, and help your technicians sharpen their diagnostics. When a gate gives you more trouble than a gate should, someone from Vance has likely seen it before.
- Marketing support: We help you adjust your local campaigns, respond to review trends, and keep your lead flow consistent. We review what’s working in your market and what’s not, then make changes based on evidence, not intuition.
- Vendor relationships: National buying power on parts and operators means you’re not paying retail for a LiftMaster board or a BFT arm. Honest pricing starts with honest parts costs, and our volume keeps your margins healthy.
- Technology and software updates: The documentation system, quoting tools, and photo record processes are refined as we learn from thousands of jobs. You get the updates automatically.
- National brand campaigns: The Haven Standard is marketed across channels, which builds recognition before a customer ever calls your local number. When a homeowner sees the written-price promise, they know what to expect from your business.
- Peer network: Franchisees share unusual job photos, diagnostic puzzles, and solutions. A gate operator failure in one market is a training note in every market.
